This 1977 911S Targa is a one family owned car with 91,000 miles. This car was brought to us by a local client that acquired the car from his father several years earlier. The Targa was originally Silver Metallic and painted red by a previous owner. The Targa was not in running condition the first time it entered our service shop so the previous owner had the fuel tank, fuel filter, and fuel injectors replaced to get the car running. The Targa was then purchased from the previous owner after deciding the work required to make the 911 roadworthy would require more of an investment.
The exterior and interior show as new due to Porsche Colorado Springs making a decision to have the vehicle repainted by Superior Automotive in Pueblo, Colorado. All exterior trim including seals and gaskets were replaced during the complete repaint process. There are no blemishes to the exterior since the car has been driven very little since completion of being refinished.
The targa top was rebuilt by well known Dave Brown in Boulder, Co.
The interior shows very clean with refurbished interior components and newer sport seats. The driver and passenger seat covers have been replaced along with adding hounds tooth center inserts. Originally equipped with Black Partial Leather seat covers.
Extensive mechanical work was performed by our Porsche Classic Trained Technicians including a top end engine reseal with updated chain tensioners being added. A complete engine overhaul was not required due to the cylinder leak and compression test results in great standing. 1% - 4% leakage on all cylinders with 140psi - 145psi compression on all cylinders. (test results noted below)
It is noted the engine has a slight oil leak from the back of engine when car sits for extended periods without being driven which is considered to be normal.
Heater boxes have been replaced.
Wheels have been refinished and new tires installed. An extensive 4 wheel alignment has been performed after setting the vehicle ride height to proper specification.
Extensive electrical system work performed including a new front wire harness, alternator, voltage regulator, and vehicle battery installed.
The car has been driven very little since the completion of refurbishment and is said to drive with good power and smooth shifting. Without having detailed service records available we had to start from nearly scratch to ensure this 911 is ready to be driven and enjoyed by the next owner.
